| Sweet and charming Christmas cottage in New York

A New Yorker couple bought this ramshackle 200-year-old cottage to make of it a cosy, charming retreat for their young family. They planned to save as many original 19st-century features as possible, as its high ceilings and staircase, mixed with other 21st-century luxuries, as ample windows overlooking the property’s two acres of maple trees, insulation to keep the weekend home warm during the winter season, and high-end appliances for the kitchen.

Their Christmas decorations have a mix of precious ornaments that the family had collected over the years, including things that the kids made, and other eco-friendly natural ornaments like the holiday tree, wreaths and garlands made of materials found in the natural environment.
