Book Review: Tough Guys and Drama Queens By Mark Gregston

Tough Guys and Drama Queens by Mark Gregston is a book for parents with teenagers.  This book talks about the challenges for today's teenager.  For the past 35 years Mark Gregston has lived and worked with struggling teens and knows what it takes to reach them. He says, "A parent's success has little to do with either the validity of their words or their intent as messengers, it's more about how they approach their child and engage with them." He talks about practical things that should be used in the family when dealing with teenagers. He makes some great points for example: teenagers being overexposed to everything. They have everything and anything right at their fingertips. You do not want technology or the world raising your children.

The book is divided into three sections:
What's so different about today's culture
Why traditional parenting no longer works
A new model for parenting teens

I recommend this book if you have teenagers or are planning on having kids. This book shows you how to apply practical applications to help your and your teenager through those rough years.
